Discipline and Behavior Management Policy
Corporal punishment is not a part of

1. DO praise, reward, and encourage our students.
2. DO reason and set limits for our students.
3. DO model appropriate behavior for our students.
4. DO modify the classroom environment to attempt to prevent problems before they occur.
5. DO listen to our students.
6. DO provide alternatives to the students for inappropriate behavior.
7. DO provide the students with natural and logical consequences for their behaviors.
8. DO treat the students as people and respect their needs, desires, and feelings.
9. DO explain things to students on their level.
10. DO explain things to children in a re-directive manner.
11. DO stay consistent in our behavior management program.
At
1. DO NOT push, pull, slap, or otherwise physically punish our students.
2. DO NOT yell at, threaten, make sarcastic remarks about, use profanity towards, or otherwise verbally abuse our students.
3. DO NOT deny food or sleep as punishment.
4. DO NOT relate discipline to eating, resting, and sleeping.
5. DO NOT leave our students alone, unattended, or without supervision.
6. DO NOT place our students in locked rooms as punishment.
7. DO NOT allow discipline of students by other students.
8. DO NOT criticize, make fun of, or otherwise belittle our students’ parents, families, or ethnic groups.
